Deep work is better when someone else is in the room.
Working alone is easy to skip, because nobody notices. FocusTribe puts your tasks and your focus time on a board one other person can see — so showing up actually counts. Free to start, for you and one partner. No video, no scheduling.
FocusTribe is a shared focus workspace for two people — you and one accountability partner. You each run your own Pomodoro timer on a shared task board, with a shared break room, ambient sounds, and a private daily reflection journal. Free for a pair, with an optional $5/month Pro plan. There is no video, no scheduling, and no matching with strangers.

Built for two people who show up for each other
Pomodoro timers, a break room, a per-day task board, reflections and progress — one shared workspace for you and your partner.
Someone notices when you show up
You each run your own Pomodoro on one shared board, so your partner can see what you planned and whether you are focusing right now. No call, no camera, nothing to join.
Breaks that actually end
Take a real break with seven ambient soundscapes: rain, forest, coffee shop, fireplace, ocean, thunderstorm, white noise. Your partner sees that you have stepped out, which is usually enough to make you step back in.
Say how long it will take
Give a task a length and the timer knows what it is counting. Finished work gets a sound and confetti. Tasks stay in the Pomodoro room so the break room has nothing to pull you back to.
Find out what keeps derailing you
Sixty seconds at the end of the day on what helped and what did not. Similar entries get grouped, so after a few weeks you can see that "phone" has come up eleven times. Private to you: your partner cannot read them.
Proof you did the work
Streaks, completion rate, and where the hours went by category. Focus time is the length you planned on the work you finished, not a guess at how long you sat there.
One link, one partner, no admin
Send a link or an 8-character code. They sign in with Google or an emailed code and land straight in the workspace. There are no seats to manage because there are only ever two of you.
How it works
From nothing to your first session.
Sign in with Google or email
Free, no card, no password. One click with Google, or a six digit code to your inbox. Or skip it and use the timers and sounds with no account at all.
Make a workspace or join one
Create your own and send the invite link, or open the link a friend sent you. A workspace holds two people.
Put a task up and start your timer
Your partner sees what you planned and whether you are focusing right now. No call, no scheduling.
Use the pieces free, right now
No account, no card, nothing to install. These are the same timers and sounds that sit inside the shared workspace — the only thing signing in adds is the other person.
A rest timer, seven soundscapes and a guided breath.
25/5 blocks that keep counting in a background tab.
Rain, forest, coffee shop, fireplace, ocean, thunder, white noise.
Layer them with sliders and share the mix as a link.
Longer revision blocks, same background-safe countdown.
The full index, in one place.

Frequently asked questions
What is FocusTribe?+
FocusTribe is a shared focus workspace for two people — you and one accountability partner. You each run your own Pomodoro timer on a shared task board, with a shared break room, ambient sounds, and a daily reflection journal. There is no video and no scheduling.
Is FocusTribe free?+
There is a free plan and there is Pro. Free is the whole shared workspace for you and one partner — both Pomodoro timers, the break room, the task board, the streaks — with nothing metered and no card, and it keeps 14 days of reflection and insight history. Pro is $5 a month or $40 a year, lifts the history cutoff entirely, and adds a formatted export. One subscription covers both people in the workspace. Separately from all of that, the timers and ambient sounds on this site are free and need no account at all.
How is FocusTribe different from a regular Pomodoro timer?+
A solo timer runs in isolation, so nobody notices when you skip a session. FocusTribe puts your timer on a board one other person can see — they know what you planned, what you finished, and whether you are focusing right now. The daily reflection journal then shows you what actually derails you, week over week. If you are weighing this against Focusmate or Flow Club, we keep an honest comparison.
How many people can share a workspace?+
Two. A workspace is you plus one accountability partner, and that is a deliberate design choice rather than a free-plan limit — it is enforced in the database rules, not by a paywall. If you need three or more people in one space, FocusTribe is not the right tool today; see what we would use instead.
Is this body doubling? How is it different from virtual coworking?+
Body doubling is working alongside someone so the task actually gets started, and that is exactly what this is for. Most virtual coworking puts you on a video call with a stranger at a booked time. FocusTribe is asynchronous and has no video: you pick one person you already know, and you each see what the other planned and whether they are focusing right now. Nothing to schedule and nobody to be on camera for.
Can I use it on my own?+
Yes. The break room, the Pomodoro timer, the study timer, the seven ambient sounds and the sound mixer are free and need no account at all — all of them here. The shared board is the part that needs a second person, and you can add them whenever you find them.
Does it work across timezones?+
Yes — that is one of the main reasons to choose it. FocusTribe is asynchronous: there is no scheduled session and no video call to both be awake for. You see what your partner planned and completed whenever you next open the board.
What ambient sounds are available in the break room?+
Rain, forest, coffee shop, fireplace, ocean, thunderstorm, and white noise — all seven are free to play without an account, and you can layer them in the mixer.
How do I invite my partner?+
Every workspace has an 8-character invite code and a matching link. Send either one. They sign in with Google or an emailed code and land straight in the workspace. One partner per workspace.
What data does FocusTribe track?+
Tasks completed, completion rate, streaks, category breakdown, and planned focus time per day. Worth being precise: focus time is calculated from the duration you set on each task, not from measured elapsed time. Your reflection entries are also clustered so recurring distractions surface over weeks.
Is my data private?+
FocusTribe records task and session metadata — never your screen, your keystrokes, or the content of your work. Your daily reflections go further: they are readable only by you, and the database security rules stop even your workspace partner from opening them.
